Bombay Beach

I just watched this documentary on Netflix, it was slightly depressing but shot beautifully. The soundtrack and filming are amazing. There's a dance sequence at one point where some of the kids are dancing/jerking and playing in all the abandoned homes from daylight>sunset>night to a nice song, and it's amazing!!! I wish I could find a clip of just that part to re-watch. I also didn't realize how close this abandoned town is to San Diego and Los Angeles.

This review is insightful, but I disagree about the author's conclusion saying that the dance sequences give the movie less impact. I loved the dance sequences, they were dreamy, lyrical and poetic. Fantasy and escapism is why I watch movies regardless if they are documentaries or fiction.

Robert Louis Stevenson

For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move; to feel the needs and hitches of our life more nearly; to come down off this feather-bed of civilization, and find the globe granite underfoot and strewn with cutting flints.
