this weekend i watched this with my brother. we both know we are happier by the ocean!!! the music and filming was beautiful. i also was given tubeflops. i like them. and i'm going to wear them. i dont care what you say. this next year will be full of decisions hmmmmm

Hyphy Wonderland

Alice is the best motif, all reinterpretations are sick. Somehow you can't mess it up. I saw cool coloring books at work today by "Nana Banana" of Alice and Wonderland. They're massive, and classic. If I had a kid, and they scribbled all over one of the sweet pages, I'd rip it out and frame it.

Chevolution

I can't wait to see this movie. I love documentaries, and I've started a new long list. I hope it's as wonderful as I'm anticipating. This is pretty much what I studied in college, and wrote papers about, the power of images. I can't wait to work this into some curriculum. YESS.

It may well be the most reproduced photograph in history, its meaning diluted and appropriated to the point where it has almost become meaningless. We’re talking of course about "Guerilla Heroico", the image of Che Guevara taken by fashion photographer turned documenter of the revolution Alberto Korda.

Being initially copyright free in accordance with the law in communist Cuba at the time, the image started off as a poster, a representation of 60s counter-culture to those in the know, but it has gone on to be used to market bands, drinks, cigarettes... as a representation of what? Chevolution seeks to answer that question.

With Alberto Kordas's daughter, Gael Garcia Bernal, Antonio Banderas, Jim Fitzgerald and Gerry Adams giving their views on the image and the myths surrounding it, this is an informative and inspiring piece of work.

I went to this show in June with Leah. SO GOOD. seriously. I took a bunch of pictures on my phone, but I have no way of putting those online, and feel like I should so I don't just lose them all. There's a lot of cool stuff I don't post. I need to.

I will probably never have a direct post on Jeff Koons cuz his porno pix with his wife freak me out. I do, however, like a lot of his other work. Especially Michael with Bubbles!! Just like PYT will always be a fav. Figured I should have this post. And the KAWS thing is sweet. I guess he used to sign to Bubbles to sit down and stuff. so cute. For some reason, this is the way I'd like to remember MJ ... with Bubbles!
