Dogs vs Cats

While we are on this topic, I prefer dogs over cats, and bigger dogs at that.

I heard this little ditty from my teacher that was written by an art critic... he was basically saying when you go into a gallery, you know who the other painters are who are also there looking, because they go up to the paintings and start acting like cats. leaning in and aroundd looking at it sideways getting their face real up close to see how the painter accomplished his masteryyyy. and then NON PAINTERS...are like dogs...they just stand in front of it real stoic, and take it in, and then move on.

OMMGG I TOTALLY ACT LIKE A CAT, ESP WHEN I GO BY MYSELF

Cory Arcangel

First, what a cool name, Arcangel.....ARC ANGEL. Anyways I came across him specifically because I liked his sweater... but I think Wikipedia says it best: Cory Arcangel (born 1978) is a digital artist who lives and works in Brooklyn. His work is concerned with the relationship between technology and culture, and with media appropriation.

Cory's work was featured in the 2004 Whitney Biennial, and has also been exhibited in the Guggenheim Museum and MoMA. His work is in public collections including MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and Miami Art Museum.

He does a lot with video, which would probably be easy just to Google, I just don't know how to get that ish on this site, cos I'm not that good....think Mario Brothers tho....

Cameron Diaz

If you knew me, you would know that my favorite actress is Cameron Diaz, and that the real reason I started following her films was because starting when the Mask came out, people started telling me I looked like her. It still happens pretty often. People at school, people at the mall, the lady who took my school picture, a hot dog guy in Los Angeles, people I served at the sushi restaurant.

Well, this month she is on W Magazine's cover. Again. I have three issues of W Magazine in which she is on the cover, and they are all fantastic...HOWEVER I CAN ONLY FIND 2 ON THE INTERNET... apparently 2004 is just too old to cover on the world wide web.

"Desire"

So I read this article about desire in a magazine, and it kept saying that the "law of nature" was: "He wants you, so you don't want him." and obviously vice versa, and it reminded me of this scene in Me and You and Everyone We Know where Miranda July does this sort of "dance of love" with her feet... I think the fleetingness of the whole game of love is really ... I dont know... beautiful, and sad at the same time.

To Document

I watched two documentaries yesterday: Manufactured Landscapes and Born into Brothels. Besides being amazing documentaries, that really make my heart ache for us, but our environment as well. They're both documentaries, about documentary photography, so all these images aren't film stills, they're actually the photography that was taking place during the entire filming of each of the documentaries. The images are amazing, and really stay with you.

Second of all, they're making square watermelons in Japan, so sick.
